Emotions
Emotions are a precious gift of life. You are human, you have to have emotion. It comes with the body. You cannot have a day without weather, and likewise you cannot be a human without emotion. You can try to suppress your emotions, ignore your emotions and generally deny your emotions but that just creates a mess. A big mess.
The thing is, people do not like being aware of their emotions. People do not like to be in a body if what is experienced in that body is emotional pain. That is the driving force within every drug taker, every over eater, anorexic, alcoholic, workaholic, gambler etc etc - that force that says consciously or unconsciously ''I do not want to be here.'' Sad but true.
We experience pain a lot in this world because of widespread ignorance of the kindness that is so important in living. When all of society becomes kinder, more aware, less materialistic and more spiritual if you like, we will have less drive towards addiction.
Care and attention to ones self and others is of the utmost importance at this time to turn around the negative tide of events that has led the Western world into addiction en masse. Healing ones own self allows one to be able to want to live in your own body. Feeling and healing your pain is what many have to do, and can easily do through the wise teachings of those who have trodden the path of recovery from all forms of addiction.
The world is going to change for the better no matter how it seems, and it starts with you changing you. Be your own best therapist, for you know you like no one else knows you. Follow the whisperings of your heart, not the cold calculations of your fears and mind. Be aware of yourself and your patterns, forgive yourself and others. Do what it takes to heal, really heal the emotional wounding of your own childhood. It can be done.
