Editing
Editing has never been my favourite part of the writing, publishing game. When the creative flow strikes and downloads a block of writing, or a sentence, usually when I am walking or cycling or doing the dishes, that is the signal to put it down on paper or on the computer - and that is the part I love. In the early morning sat in front of my computer re reading the download and then the inspiration flows as to how the story will flow. Words, sentences and pages spill through my fingertips on to the computer screen as I literally feel the flow of creativity flow through me and before I know it two hours have passed and it is dawn. That is how I got seven manuscripts and a lot of editing over the last ten years or so. Combined with traditional book publication eluding me and immersing myself in the world of single motherhood while home schooling. An adventure to be sure and one I wrote about in My Life My Way (getting its final edit now). I am compelled to blog about the Writer's journey. JR Rowling is an exception. Many writers, in fact most, struggle with the publishing and marketing game which I believe, like all challenges in life, can only be met by following that still small voice within that guides you past all the obstacles, round the blockages, through the corruption, deceit and lies that you may encounter. You will fail, failure is part of success, failure is temporary when you keep going and follow the next nudge of your intuition. I heard Dolores Cannon talk of her journey to publish her books - It took her nine years to find a good publisher and within those nine years she wanted to give up many times, she wanted to throw her writing away, she said she experienced all the problems and failures that could be experienced in trying to publish her books and yet she eventually succeeded because she persisted. And that has been my inspiration. So I persist in this game of writing, editing, publishing and marketing my works. Enjoy!!
I got into the habit many years ago of carrying a notebook and pen in my handbag because that is when the Muse would strike - when I was walking to town to do some shopping, pushing the pram with my young child in it.
Previous to that, the year of my pregnancy had been a good one. Living in London I had several one to one clients both for Rebirthing Sessions and Healing the Eating Habit consultations, as well a weekly self-help support group for compulsive eaters. That was when I started writing. My books True Slimness, (available from Amazon) and Simply Full and Guidelines for Healing Your Eating Habit (available from eBay) are the result of my own experience in overcoming binge eating and my studies and work in that area. Healing addiction to food when full through the emotional resolving of that which drives us to crave food when full.
I now do affordable consultations via Skype and Facebook Video Call £45 per hour - Discounts for series of three or five.
