Healing through Breathing
The following phrase from a coaching tape of Jim Leonard, founder of Vivation Breathing Technique, really struck me as intriguing ''You can enjoy your life just as it is right now.'' The right now bit really got me interested. What, with all this shit going on some enjoyment might seep in?
Another phrase, in this vein of thought, is from Ram Dass the spiritual teacher and author of Be Here Now - ''Is the shit you are in good enough?'' The idea being to accept the negative and unwanted aspects of your life. Accept it as being where you are now, and use it to create some good thing. To work with it to do something good.
Accepting and even enjoying your life right now, makes you more able to make decisions and take actions that allow your life to grow in the direction of your ideal life.
This is the power of accepting and enjoying the challenges of life. It is easy to enjoy the good and wonderful that is in your life, and by allowing that to encompass what is unwanted in your life, arises the power to dissolve or transform that which is unwanted in your life; not being overwhelmed by it, for overwhelm paralyses you and leaves you incompetent to make any positive changes.
It is almost like separating the negative from the positive and not allowing the negative emotions take over or overshadow that which is going well in your life. Rather allowing the positive emotions be the driving force that propels the negative into change. It is a constant flow, and sometimes the current is fast.
There are always good things in your life and there are always bad things in your life. Enjoying the good and aware of the bad puts you in the position to be able to transform the bad into something better. I guess this is how the enjoyment seeps in and becomes part of the equation concerning something negative. Many might call that a miracle, for we are not used to transforming the negative. It is a new skill and we can master it. In fact I personally believe that that is what life is all about - transformation.
Non-attachment would be another way to view it. You can act in a manner that heals a negative situation. To win the battle as it were. To enjoy winning! To think we are not Spiritual Warriors in our lives is a mistake. We all have challenges and 'battles' to fight and if we deny their existence then we surely lose.
Facing up to and integrating the good in our life while embracing the negative and, though emotional resolving let the overall goodness of life seep through the challenges, we win. We truly do win. Not always in the conventional sense of more money, more material possessions or prestige won at the cost of people and animals and the earth, but winnings of camaraderie, friendship, a deep soulful, authentic meaningful life of connection and healing.
All of us, if we allow ourselves to day dream, have an image, or idea, of how our life would look if it were ''perfect''. Addiction, eating when full, running away from our issues and unpleasant emotions is not empowering you to change your life, it is deepening a grove of negativity that created that life challenge to begin with.
In Breath-work, especially Rebirthing Breath-work there is the concept of the Five Biggies. These are - Birth Trauma, Your Personal Lie, School Trauma, the Death Urge and Parental Disapproval. Within these, lie the creating factors of the experiences you have throughout your life. And working on healing any aspect of these allows you to change your life. In fact when you have resolved any part of one of these five biggies your life automatically changes - yes! Awesome and I have experienced it many times. After a breath-work session or an intensive workshop my life not only feels different but outer changes would occur in line with the goals I was striving for, thus proving to me that the inner work is the necessary part of the outer desired changes.
I offer one to one Rebirthing Sessions via Skype - £55 per session. Sessions usually last one and a half to two hours. I recommend ten session and offer discounts to those on a low income.
Remember to breathe the breath of life deeply and consciously for therein lies freedom and peace, authenticity and grace. A life different to what you know, a life improved on from what you know, a life moulded and shaped by a conscious and aware you.
