That Still Small Voice Within

 The still small voice that is within each and everyone of us is also known as our intuition, our sixth sense, our gut instinct. That sense, that something is intrinsically right or terribly wrong can be a delightful and powerful guiding light in our lives if we let it. People know when they follow their gut and things work out well. People have also experienced not following that whisper and things not going so good. So each and every one of us has had experiences of this, little spoken about, phenomenon.

When I teach people the principles of healing their problems around food and excess weight, one of the first things I give them is the  ''Am I Hungry?'' download / handout sheet. A simple process whereby you ask yourself every time you think about food or eating - Am I Hungry?  Thus you are enabling yourself to become more familiar with your hunger and fullness sensations, and knowing when you are going for food when full. Once aware that you are in fact physically full of food, but still want to, or crave to eat more, you can ask yourself - What feeling is this, what emotion is driving me towards food I do not physically need? Once you have your feeling or emotion you can then ask your self - Given the fact I feel this way what would I like to do now? Now this all important question directs you to your intuition or your ''still small voice within.'' The one that says for example: ''I need to go for a brisk walk to burn off some of this anger or beat the mattress with my fists.'' Another thought may be - ''All this restlessness I am feeling I sure would love to check out the on-line Yoga teach training, or find an energy healing course I like.'' Another emotion that you may have been suppressing by eating when full is your desire to write, or paint, or seek counselling around issues within your marriage. You may feel drawn to move house or change jobs. Any manner of ideas can come from that still small voice, but the idea can comes to you in answer to - Given the fact I feel this way what would I like to do now? (once it is a healthy answer) is the perfect antidote to the eating when full.
