Where is your meat coming from?
On a walk in the countryside today I heard the bleating of sheep. And as I sat down to rest I could notice one cry was almost like the cry of a human in deep emotional pain. I had to listen and it carried such agony of a mother frantically calling her young. If I could have translated it, it would have said, ''Where are you?!!!'' The utter desperation, pain and agony in all the cries became evident to me. I felt a deep sadness, and coming from a farming background I new exactly what it was all about. The mother sheep were in one field and the babies in another. SEPARATED. The cries were about that. They did not want to be separated as no mother human or otherwise wants to be separated from her baby. It causes the greatest emotional and psychological pain across the animal and human kingdoms.
When I was 17 years old and realising where my meat came from and the suffering it caused, I became Vegetarian. I was lucky enough at the age of 13 to have had a friend who was vegetarian. When I asked her why she was vegetarian, her answer was simply - I love animals. Vegetarianism at that time in 1983 in rural Ireland was unheard of but her mother had been supportive and saw her daughter was still healthy.
So two years later with the full support of my mother I easily became vegetarian, I later overcame compulsive eating and later still easily became predominately vegan, which I am to this day.
Now, I do not think anyone has the right to tell anyone what to eat. And in my work helping compulsive eaters heal their addiction to food when full I always tell them - Eat What You Fancy when physically hungry and stop when physically full. However because Vegan-ism is one of the fastest growing movements in the world today, many people ask me about giving up meat and dairy.
Thankfully I know, through experience, exactly how being vegan can be a lasting lifestyle change that anyone can make and my Facebook Video Calls and Zoom Sessions are £35 per hour session.
The tips, tools and ideas I offer form an overall formula that leads you into the lasting freedom of not only being able to stop when full but also have the ultimate freedom to abstain from foods like meat and dairy should you so choose.
