Continuing Journey
When I gave up compulsive eating I thought it was the end - a goal achieved, a long awaited destination finally reached. I discovered in fact it was the start of a new life for me. For to actually live a life free from the compulsion to eat when full changes things. One of the first things to change was I left my family home to live with my boyfriend and six months later to move to London.
When you change from being a person who eats when full to a person who stops when full, you are actually becoming a person who switches from suppressing their emotional stuff to someone who is aware of and resolves their emotional stuff. This is a huge difference. You change from not really being aware of how you feel about things to being someone who is very aware about how you feel about things. You change from someone who does not really take into consideration what you deeply know to be true and become someone who actively asks yourself what you would want and like from any given situation. You acknowledge and act on what you would like to be doing with your time and energy, your resources and knowledge.
It is not so important what the 'done thing' is - you are willing to, for example, take an art class even if it is a bit expensive and your spouse or family think that it is a waste of money. You move city or change jobs. Try different evening classes until you find one you like. You take up a hobby or embark on a relationship. You see less of some people and more of others. You start to spend your time differently. You read, study, travel, work and learn if you want to. You are the master of your destiny and start to change the things you can change, the things you would like to change. You forgive and release, heal and grow and move on from your past.
To become slim this way is a true and lasting slimness exactly because the underlying emotional issues are being actively addressed by you and in so doing the altering and changing of your life occurs.
Weight loss is always permanent when the underlying issues that caused you to carry excess weight have been dealt with effectively.
